Today I got some wonderful news: I just received confirmation that one of my pictures is selected for the exposition “Duisternis” (Darkness), organised by the Brabantse Milieufederatie. My image will be shown in the public library in Berkel-Enschot, from October 30th to November 27th, 2010.
Below you can see the selected work named “Na Bóithre Romhainn” (Gaelic for “The Road Ahead”).

Synesthesia (also spelled synæsthesia or synaesthesia) is a neurologically-based condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway (source: wikipedia).
This phenomenon has always interested me, where people “see” sounds, smell or taste colors or see characters in a certain color. Several artists and scientist are synestesists. Among them are Nicola Tesla (inventor), Pythagoras (philosopher), Ludwig Wittgenstein (philosopher), Wassily Kandinsky (painter), Richard D James (aka Aphex Twin, musician), Jimi Hendrix (musician) and Syd Barret (Pink Floyd, musician). There are more, and not everyone on the list above is confirmed 100%.
So far I have not seen Eno’s name in any of the compiled lists of synestesists, but I enjoy his music and soundscapes. And watching Kandinsky’s paintings I can pretty much see how a painting can be based on music.
Now how would the image above sound or taste…

As I was watching the sun slowly sinking, the intensity of the colors in the sky grew. Clouds slowly moving and ever changing drifted over.

After years of negligence, I’ve finally came around to getting this site back up again. This time no hacking with HTML, but a wordpress blog with a clean template. I’ve considered using a template with similar colors to the previous site colors (black/green/red) but found something much more readable. Agreed, it is not a phlog template, but with a little help from NextGen we can consider that topic dealt with
In the following weeks I’ll be adding older and newer pictures, and update text here and there. I hope you like it…
